Madison Arboretum Engagement | Madison, Wisconsin | Mary + Alex
I met Mary and Alex at their home in Madison before heading out to the UW-Madison Arboretum for their engagement session. I had previously met them at Starbucks before they had decided to book with me. Their engagement session, like with most couples, was the first time I really got to witness their relationship. Mary and Alex are so freakin comfortable with each other and welcoming to the people around them. I felt so natural photographing them whilst hiking through the woods. I don’t remember how long the session ended up lasting, but it was definitely longer than the hour and a half I promise. They didn’t have any plans that evening, and I kept having just “one more idea.” Nonetheless, time FLEW by.
The Madison Arboretum is BEAUTIFUL in the fall.
I had never been to the UW-Madison Arboretum until Alex and Mary’s engagement session. That place is a little have in the middle of Wisconsin’s capitol. The path winds through the woods, and at sunset, the light pierces through the trees. As you can tell from their photos, it was autumn as fuck for their session. The leaves were all sorts of beautiful and the air was all sorts of crisp. I honestly wonder why Wisconsin isn’t known as one of those places people run away to elope. Wisconsin is so damn beautiful – I’m so grateful to have been born here.
I’m super excited to shoot Mary + Alex SUPER intimate wedding at a beautiful AirBnB home on the lake in Madison. They are such a warm couple, and I’m excited to be a part of the small crew that gets to witness their marriage 🙂
COOL FACT: Mary and Alex actually rode their bikes around and collected addresses of beautiful homes they found on the lake in Madison. They THEN proceeded to write handwritten letters to each home asking if they could possibly rent the home for their wedding. Seriously the coolest “wedding venue hunt” story I’ve ever heard.
