Logan Square Engagement | Chicago, Illinois | Marina + Ben
We didn’t decide on “a location.” Instead, we decided on the entirety of an area for this Logan Square Engagement. Thank you. I love this. Limiting yourself to a certain spot, or a certain 2 locations limits creativity in my humble opinion. I love just being able to meander around a certain neighborhood because then my eye has the chance to see things that you might have not picked up on. Not only is this a blast, but I’m pretty good at picking out little nooks and crannies that help make a good photo. Also, it was a space that had meaning to the couple. They live there, spend their time there, go on dates there. You get the idea. I truly believe in choosing a location that has meaning to you vs. a location that’s “instagram worthy.” What’s meaningful to you is actually the most worthy, so roll with it. We’ll make it perfect – I promise.
With every engagement shoot, (or any shoot for that matter), I truly try to step out of my comfort zone and do something different. I encourage movement and natural interaction. Marina and Ben made it so easy because there was a level of trust. If I asked them to do something that might sound goofy or weird, they rolled with it. Their Logan Square engagement pictures truly reflect their willingness to open up and be themselves.
Choose two outfits – even if you don’t feel like it.
It’s so worth it. I mean honestly, you can have two totally different vibes out of one shoot. You get so much more variety. Marina + Ben’s engagement shoot goes from bright and giggly under a setting sun to dark and moody in a theater. I love the contrast from the beginning to the end of the photo. It’s honestly almost like you’re getting two shoots in one. VARIETY IS GOOD!
